Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation (CRPF)
The Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, formerly the Cancer Research Foundation of America, is a national, non-profit health foundation with a single mission: the prevention and early detection of cancer through scientific research and education.
The Foundation focuses its energies and resources on those cancers—including lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, cervical, skin and testicular—that can be prevented through lifestyle changes or detection and treatment in their early stages.
Today, however, prevention research is recognized as essential to the fight against cancer. Now that scientists better understand how tumors develop, they are learning ways that people can reduce their cancer risks. In addition, the Foundation's public education programs have made real-life use of this scientific knowledge by teaching people ways they can reduce their cancer risks. When 10-year-old Reggie’s parents divorced, the pain and suffering he endured was severe-not because of his reaction to the divorce, but because of his mom’s...
After the divorce, Reggie’s mom remarried and had another child with her new husband. Meanwhile, Reggie’s dad moved to England where he was stationed with the Air Force. Reggie didn’t see his dad for 2 years. Instead he lived with his Mom and her new family.
But in her mind, Reggie’s mom hadn’t really moved on. She still felt tremendous hatred towards her ex-husband. Without her ex-husband to express herself to, Reggie’s mom turned her hatred on Reggie.
During the beatings, Mom’s message was always very clear–I hate you because you’re just like your father. Reggie’s step-dad ignored the beatings and Reggie, only paying attention to the baby he had with Reggie’s mom. Reggie couldn’t change his behavior to avoid the beatings because everything he did seemed to make his mom mad. Telling his teachers or counselors at school was out of the question–his mom had seen to that, threatening to abandon him if he ever told a soul. He’d accidentally left a dirty sock on the floor of his closet. When his mom found it, she exploded and beat him as she always did. But this time it went a step further. She burned the top of one of his hands with an iron. Reggie couldn’t take it anymore. He told his mom he didn’t want to live and he ran from the house. Reggie ran, and he ran, and he ran, searching the streets of his town for, as he put it, a “big truck” to jump in front of.
Then something made Reggie stop. That same something made Reggie reach inside one of his pockets, and that’s where he found his salvation - a crumpled bookmark that read “1-800-4-A-CHILD”. Reggie recalled the day his teacher passed the bookmarks out at school. He’d kept it close because he must have known he’d one day have no choice but to call someone for help. He quickly found a convenience store with a pay phone, and Reggie made the free call. When a counselor was on the line, Reggie nervously asked if their call was being taped ... whether his mom or step-dad would know that he called. The counselor assured Reggie that his call would be anonymous.
“Do you believe in angels?” Reggie asked. “Do you believe in angels?” the counselor replied. Reggie’s answer, as his explanation made very clear, was “yes.” He explained to the counselor that his grandmother told him to ask his guardian angel for help whenever he was in trouble because God created the angels to help us out. He’d been very close to his grandmother, who had died just the year before, and he wanted to die too so he could be with her in heaven. Reggie kept talking, eventually revealing enough information for the counselor to get the police and child protective agency on the line so that a formal report could be filed. When the police found Reggie at the pay phone, he was still talking to the counselor. His last words to her were these: “I knew my Grandma was right - there are angels and today you were mine.”

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable,
houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 125,000 houses in more than 80 countries, including some 45,000 houses across the United States.
Paraphrasing Charles Dickens: "It is the best of times; it is the worst of times." Never in this country's history have so many been so well housed, and ironically, never have so many had such serious housing problems. Indeed, housing is a key indicator of the growing gap between those who live in a stable environment and are part of the mainstream, and those who have been left behind.
Habitat for Humanity's efforts provide one example of how people can close that gap "in community" with others. Unfortunately, however, in most communities the problem is growing faster than the collective efforts of Habitat and others to address housing needs. For each of the 2.6 million families now without housing or whose housing should be replaced, there are at least four other families who are housed, but can only pay their housing costs by going without adequate food, clothing or other basic needs. They spend at least half--and often much more--of their incomes for housing alone.

Girls and Boys Town
Girls and Boys Town, the original Father Flanagan's Boys' Home, is a leader in the treatment and care of abused, abandoned and neglected girls and boys. Throughout its 85-year history, the nonprofit, nonsectarian organization has provided these children with a safe, caring, loving environment where they gain confidence to get better and learn skills to become productive citizens. Girls and Boys Town alumni have gone on to become successful in all facets of life.

Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation ID# 53936
Sarcoma is a highly malignant and aggressive form of cancer arising in the connective tissues and each year there are approximately 10,000 new cases diagnosed in the United States. This deadly form of cancer is one of the five most commonly diagnosed in children. While many other forms of cancer research have enjoyed great success in the development of new and better treatments, the sad reality is that a diagnosis of sarcoma often translates into a very poor prognosis.
The Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation (ASCF) is committed to educating the public about sarcomas, encouraging and funding sarcoma specific research, and providing tangible support for people affected by the disease. We have opened our doors to numerous families, through our Shared Families Program which provides free short-term housing to countless families who, due to the rarity of their condition, often travel incredible distances for treatment and follow-up.
We have had success in encouraging sarcoma specific research by funding, in large part, the salary of one of the future giants in the field of sarcoma research and providing grants, through our physician-scientist program, to two researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, ASCF works to support organizations and individuals wanting to establish linkages between sarcoma patients with like diagnoses to make sure that no patient feels the isolation that a diagnosis of sarcoma can often bring. Still with all of this, there is much work to be done. We will continue the fight against sarcoma until we have conquered this disease, but we need your help. Mackayla Jespersen Fund ID# 45600 (The Miracle Baby)
Mackayla Jespersen is a true miracle baby, after being pronounced dead in a hospital as a result of a drowning accident in a backyard pool, Mackayla was found breathing in an emergency room by a detective nearly an hour after being pronounced dead by doctors.
This truly amazing story happened two years ago, not only is Mackayla alive and well today but she has made amazing progress in those two years due to a non-conventional treatment called hyperbaric chamber oxygen treatment and her parents dedication. Today she defies doctors who said she will never function as a normal human being ever after being brain dead for nearly an hour. Today she can swallow soft food on her own - play - roll on the ground and identify objects and she is learning to speak again and follow commands.
Her mom and dad never gave up on her and they are working with therapist and doctors everyday to help Mackayla have a normal life like any other child.
