Cell Phone Recycling $1.00 ea. Flat Rate Program
|
|
As cellular phone
users upgrade to ever more advanced cellular devices, a growing number of surplus
cell phones are waiting to be recycled. These phones are piling up and threatening
the environment at a rate of 2 million phones per week. Experts say we could be looking at 250,000 tons of obsolete and retired cell phones in the waste stream by 2005.
The proper disposal of electronic waste like cell phones, personal digital assistants, pagers and other small electronics is the fastest growing waste concern in the world.
Cell phones and other electronics contain small amounts of hazardous material like mercury, lead and cadmium that could in large quantities contaminate our soil and water.
Recycle 4 Charity
is a nation-wide environmental initiative designed to help individuals and businesses
recycle their unused cellular phones. By recycling cellular phones we are protecting
our environment, by keeping the toxic chemicals from cellular phones out of
our landfills and water supplies. The cash proceeds from recycling are used to help
charities, schools, churches, groups and other non-profit agencies raise money.
